Grading
The Mon grade syllabus is for children aged 8 to 16 years old, although they can transfer to the Senior Kyu grades from the age of 14.
Mon grades contain three levels within each of the different belt colours to break down the techniques required at each stage.
Below are the techniques required for each of the different belts.
1st Mon to 3rd Mon - RED Belt
4th to 6th Mon - Yellow Belt
7th to 9th Mon - Orange Belt
10th to 12 Mon - Green Belt
13th to 15th Mon - Blue Belt
16th to 18th Mon - Brown Belt
Kyu grades are for ages 14+ and follow the same structure as the Mon Grades syllabus except there are no stages within each of the grades. Instead it is all combined into one promotion criteria.
Mon grades can convert onto the Kyu grade syllabus when they are over the age of 14, and they will retain the current grade.
Dan Grades are the coveted "Black Belt" and can be obtained from 16 years old. With each promotion comes more study of the gokyo and katas. The technical sheet is what will be used by examiners marking the techinque out of a possible 10.
